    • Page Title
    • The Slug
    • Meta Description Tags
    • Htags or Heading Tags
    • Alt Tags on Images

At the end of the post, read a note of SEO Secrets Revealed, as well as where to find more information and help.

Page Title

All web pages on your website should have titles that are both people and search engine friendly.

The title of your websites page is displayed on browsers and in search engine results. Hence, your page title should include target keywords and be 65-70 characters total.

In our example below we have written up the homepage title as:

Canned Unicorn Meat – An Excellent Source of Sparkles and Joy!

This is now an optimized page title, which includes targeted keywords.

You can edit and update your page titles by clicking on the Settings icon.

The Slug

Immediately under the Page Title is the Slug, which is basically the URL of the page.

This is usually the exact same as the title, and is automatically picked from there. You can however, edit it to suit your needs. It can either be a variation of the title tag, or a shorter version, if the title tag is too long. It’s much easier to remember a URL like “yoursite.com/services” than “yoursite.com/available-services-offered-in-this-page”.

It can be edited by simply clicking on the text.

Meta Description Tags

The second most important par of on page SEO. The meta description tags is what search engines display as part of the description of your website. This is prime real estate as most searchers read the description and make a decision whether or not the page content is relevant to their search. Remember to include your target keywords in the title tag and the description. Add keywords in the keyword section and keep them to a minimum 3 to 5.

Add your pages’ title tag, meta description tag and keywords.

H tags or Headings

In this next section we will cover Headings or H Tags. H tags are both important for SEO and for the typography of your website. H tags help search engines identify what titles of your site's content is important and create a relation between keywords, content and search queries. On the visual aspect of things most website visitors tend to scan page content rather than read through every single section. So headings help you modulate your sites content for easier reading.

In the text editor you can choose the different headings for your websites content.

Tip: Try to use short but descriptive headings that will help both search engines and visitors easily identify content. If possible, implement the use of keywords in a normal manner that does not confuse the reader.

There is a heading hierarchy that you must always follow H1 is your most important heading followed by H2, H3, H4 and so on. We will outline a brief example of how to use headings.

  • H1 = Unicorn Meat
  • H2 = Magic and Sparkles in Every Bite
  • H3 = Place Your Order and Receive a Free Gift

So as we can see we have implemented a keyword in our most important headline and supporting terms in the H2 and H3. Another way to use heading tags is to modulate or separate content sections. Where your H1 tag would be the title of your page content. H2 tags would be section titles and H3 would be taglines within the sections. Here’s an example:

  • Content Title = The Magic of Unicorn Meat – H1
  • Section Title = Benefits of Unicorn Meat – H2
  • Tagline = Prevent Exhaustion -H3
  • Section Title = Delicious Recipes -H2
  • Tagline = Marinated Unicorn Meat -H3

Doing this will help visitors identify modulated sections quickly and provide easy reading. To learn more on how to edit the design aspects of the htags we have written an Htag tutorial to help you with the aesthetics of htags.

Alt Tags on Images

Alternate tags on your images can help search engines find images on your website. Since search engines do not read images it is important to let them know what the image is about. Following our examples a good alt tag for an image of a can of unicorn meat would be "unicorn meat can" simple and to the point. You can update alt tags on images as you edit your image with our image app and learn more on how it works here.
