The Undo button on the Shelf at the bottom of the screen allows you to go back to the last time you saved your changes and not the last action taken. You can also go forward using the Redo button if you need to. At the same time, you should proceed cautiously, especially if you switch to another page in the editor. You won't be able to undo what you did on a previous page.
Try hovering over the buttons if you feel uncertain about the specific actions they can undo/redo. Doing this is a good indicator of what’s left to be undone/redone. For the undone/redone icons, see below.

Once you have clicked the Undo or Redo button, the progress bar below the Shelf will indicate that your request is being processed.
